The Museum of York County is a place for the whole family to explore the exciting wonders of the world as well as those that surround them locally in South Carolina. The Museum prides itself on the ability to bring joy and culture to those who visit. Over the years they have brought a variety of exhibits to showcase the culture that is found to those who call the Upstate of South Carolina home.

Their newest exhibit is called Ice Age Carolinas: Exploring our Pleistocene Past. A brand new, permanent exhibit that directly aligns with what the museum strives to do every day. They pride themselves in educating others through hands-on experiences where visitors can explore, touch, and learn about the Carolina Piedmont and beyond. The intention of this exhibit is to highlight the way the Pleistocene Epoch impacted the Carolina Piedmont region of the world. This exhibit helps viewers understand the ways in which the land of The Carolinas adapted to being covered by ice, what wildlife grew here, and how vegetation survived during some 1.6 million years ago.

Ice Age Carolina includes a variety of pieces that are immersive, hands-on, and interactive for visitors. Great for any age, the exhibit is interactive and provides a well-grounded view of the Ice Age including taxidermy, models, fossils, books, and more. The goal is to bring understanding of a time period that can be hard to imagine in the year 2020.
