Charleston Harbor Cruise during Active Aging Week in October

Wellmore of Daniel Island believes that anyone, at any age, in any condition can improve their quality of life. In support of that, each year, Members participate in Active Aging Week! To kick off the week right, Wellmore focused on nutrition! The Dining Services team prepared a well-balanced Mediterranean-based lunch special that was a huge hit. Sharing with attendees the importance of a proper diet while maintaining a consistent exercise routine was crucial to our Programming Director, Liz. Over the last year, people have become quite obsessed with becoming “plant parents” and we have to share that caring and tending to plants is very good for your spiritual wellness. There was a plant-based party for a fun happy hour! Members snacked on sweet potato fries with an onion glaze and sipped on a sweet vodka-cranberry cocktail while learning about the differences between plant-based meals and a carnivorous diet. Everyone went home with a succulent to lighten up their homes! Later in the week we welcomed Angie who is a professional dancer that specializes in modified mobility dancing for seniors and dance with Parkinson’s! It was a fantastic class and we loved seeing everyone move and groove! To conclude the epic Active Aging Week, Members hit the water! Attendees took a ride on the Ferry to learn about the historical Charleston Harbor!

Chef’s Table

In 2021, Wellmore of Daniel Island began hosting an exclusive dining experience called the Chef’s Table! Those who were interested in participating signed up for this limited seating event to enjoy a perfectly prepared meal by our incredible dining team! This is a great opportunity for them to show off their culinary skills and provide our Members with an extravagant meal paired with hand-selected wine! One month focused specifically on an upscale seafood selection! The Chef started with an amuse-bouche, escargot in buttered puff pastry followed by three courses:

  • 1st course – Bacon-Leek-Stuffed Green Mussels with Hollandaise and Tomatoes
  • 2nd course – Butter Poached Lobster Tail with Potatoes, Grilled Asparagus, and Grilled Lemon
  • 3rd course – Pumpkin Spice Crème Brulee with a Pecan Sandie The meal was paired with Moscato and Riesling!

Wine Under the Oaks – May 2021

Wellmore of Daniel Island continues to be a great supporter of the Alzheimer’s and Association and the Walk to End Alzheimer’s! In May, our team welcomed Charleston area senior living partners, and local businesses to participate in ‘Wine Under the Oaks’! The event was a $20 suggested donation and included hors d’oeuvres, wine, beer, and live music. The event was a success and it was great to have everyone come together for this cause that is very near and dear to the team at Wellmore. Wine Under the Oaks proudly raised $1,777 for the Alzheimer’s Association.

Vaccine Clinic

In the beginning of January, Members and the team at Wellmore came together to participate in their first COVID-19 vaccination clinic. In partnership with CVS Health, attendees opted-into getting ‘the jab’ for the health and safety of everyone in the community to limit the spread of the virus.
