They started with a walk through the famed Anne Spring Close Greenway to see the horses and the petting zoo! Attendees met the four sweet goats, Blanche, Sofia, Dorothy, and Rose. After meeting all of these adorable animals, Members enjoyed a picnic lunch with the barn cat, Bob! In the afternoon, Critter Creek Farm came to Wellmore with some of their sweet baby goats! These goats were the perfect companions for a yoga class on a beautiful day! Member’s smiles say it all! The baby goats were both gentle and loving for Goat Yoga!Oktoberfest Signature ExperienceProst! The Wellmore Oktoberfest was a huge hit in 2021. Members started the morning playing Flunkyball in the Group Fitness Room. Flunkyball is based on a popular German drinking game! It is played by trying to knock over the bowling pins in the middle of the room. Whoever knocked over the pin caused the other person to have to spell a German word. In the afternoon, Members had a beer tasting with pretzels, learned all about Oktoberfest, and ended the night with an evening of dancing to one of our favorites – The Foothills Oompah Band! This incredible band performed for a few hours while Members danced the night away! Attendees had a blast and enjoyed singing along to polkas and other traditional German songs. They even got a group of us up to do the Chicken Dance.Christmas in July Signature Experience“It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” Wellmore of Tega Cay celebrated Christmas in July and it was a blast! The day began with a snowball relay race where Members were given a spoon and saw who could keep the snowball from hitting the ground as they raced around cones! Since Members were still feeling a little competitive, there were Minute-to-Win-It Games. The first games involved a set of oven mitts and Christmas presents. The group was divided into two teams and was to try to unwrap the gifts as fast as you could using oven mitts. There were boxes wrapped inside of other boxes and each Member got 30 seconds to try to open as much of the box as they could before passing it off to their neighbor. Ultimately, the red team won! Next, participants played a game where they had to hook two giant rings using a giant candy cane and ring the lei on the palm tree. The red team took the win for both games! Attendees made beach-themed Christmas ornaments using sand, seashells, mini flip flops, and ribbon. After that, Social Director, Holly, and Wellness Director, Katherine, dressed up as Santa and his reindeer for pictures with the Members. The day ended with frozen hot chocolate and a Christmas movie in the Bistro – YUM!2021 OutingsThroughout 2021, Wellmore Members took part in quite a few adventures! These outings have been both educational and fun! When Members visited Discovery Place Science in Uptown Charlotte, Members were able to see all historical artifacts from letters, tools, and even prototypes of the Apollo missions and how they came to be. Throughout the day, Members reminisced about where they were when man first landed on the moon.Windy Hill Orchard and Cider Mill was the perfect Fall getaway for participants. Those who attended this trip were instructed on how to pick their apples from the trees and to make sure that they were perfectly red! Attendees left with a quarter peck of apples and delicious donuts. Our team brought back two flavors of cider – Gala Peach and Run of the Mill. The Run of the Mill was a crowd favorite!Active Aging Week 2021 Active Aging Week 2021 was a grand success! The week was full of different events and kicked off by celebrating National Golf Lover’s Day. The morning began with some putting drills, where participants learned the proper way to adjust their posture and stance to make a hole in one. Afterwards everyone moved on to the Bistro where they tasted seven different juices from cranberry to acai berry. Wellness Director, Katherine, shared the different health benefits of each. That afternoon started with our Wellmore Golf Obstacle course where teams of four were placed at each station where they were asked to perform a task like sorting out colored golf balls or solving a math equation. Tuesday brought us Tailgate Tuesday! It began with a cornhole tournament where Mrs. Jenny dominated and scored the most points for her team! Later everyone participated in tailgate games like: Hot Potato, “Beer Pong”, and Flip Cup. Our MVP for the day was Ruth, who proved to be the ultimate scorer at beer pong and flip cup. On our third day of the week, we honored Hygge! Hygge is a piece of Dutch culture that is known as the art of being cozy. Attendees began with some morning stretches where they warmed up their muscles from head to toe. This was followed by an herbal tea tasting where Members were able to sample different types of loose-leaf tea – chamomile was a favorite! Live Long Well Care was kind enough to host a free blood pressure check for both staff and Members during the lunch hour. However, participants were able to enjoy some yoga and meditation in the group fitness room followed by DIY snickerdoodle mug cakes. There were a ton of events in addition to these that everyone participated in and made all of our attendees feel active both inside and out!Related Posts: Top 5 Events of 2023 – WTC Top 5 Events of 2021 – WLX Top 5 Events of 2021 – WDI
